By Gary Lewis The Columbia, the Klamath, the Sacramento and other big rivers are deep, ponderous and powerful and the quest for monster fish can draw us to some of the most dangerous water. To present baits to them, you have to drop anchor. Do it right, and the hook sticks and you slide into position. Do it wrong and the boat is going DOWN. The depths of any big river are fraught with peril. Submerged logs, abandoned cars, construction debris, boats, tangles of tackle and all manner of jetsam are stuck to the bottom of the river. Water flows vary throughout the day and can change enough that what was sufficient anchor line in the morning, might not be enough later in the day. If the river goes up and there is no give in the rope, the boat sinks — FAST. Other boaters pose a danger. Once we watched a fellow back his boat down the ramp to the water’s edge.

The house is very comfortable and cozy. We stayed with our almost two year old son and it was a very nice layout for him to go to bed and us to stay up without bothering him. Loved the hot tub and the location! The hosts were fantastic about responding to requests for information, and the place itself was clean and warm on arrival very important for winter. We loved the small touches they left for us to use, such as a cosmetics towel, a Christmas tree for our stay in December, hot chocolate and tea as well as information for Bend itself.
Dec 14, · Hey, thanks for the response. We’ll definately have to hook up sometime in the new year! I did live in Oregon for most of my life and I’m familiar with Browns Camps, Jones Creek, and Milican Valley East of Bend, OR.

The woman believes her year-old well dried up as a result of improvements Swalley Irrigation Company has made to their canals over the last six years. The woman requested her name not be used because, as she says, “irrigation companies get real funny about water, and I don’t want them to know my name.
And I know people in the Pioneer Loop, Brookswood and OB Riley housing developments who have experienced the same thing,” the homeowner explains. Irrigation improvements affecting residential wells? One primary concern is “carry water,” or the leakage and evaporation of irrigation water when it’s pushed out to users.

Just because the cops call them that does not make it so. Definition acording to most cops: Kinna sounds like the cops dont it? Police officials have not released the name of the officer involved in the shooting, or four other officers with him at the time, but sources have confirmed he is a year-old detective who works for the Seattle police Pawn Shop Squad and is a police guild board member. The officer also is known throughout the department as an avid motorcycle rider.
South Dakota investigators have obtained videotape of the shooting that Seattle union leaders believe will exonerate the officer of any wrongdoing in the altercation that left a Hells Angels member wounded. Authorities have said the officer and four others at the scene all identified themselves as members of the Iron Pigs, a motorcycle club made up mostly of police officers and firefighters. Of the other four officers at the scene, one has been identified as a sergeant who at one time ran the security detail for former Seattle Mayor Norm Rice.
The two men were with a group of officers who had traveled to Sturgis, S. The shooting happened around 1 a. Saturday at the Loud American Roadhouse, a popular bar that held as many as patrons at the time. Sturgis police reported that there was an altercation between some Hells Angels gang members in the bar and members of the Iron Pigs, all of them Seattle police officers on vacation. Authorities have not said what led to the confrontation, though sources said it might have been sparked because the officers were displaying colors or other identifying markings associated with their club.
At some point, the confrontation became physical, and one of the officers allegedly fired two shots, striking and wounding one of the Hells Angels.

The numbers above show the savings with a solar PPA for an average home in Oregon. The typical electric bill before solar power is super expensive, but with a PPA, your monthly expenses will be lower. You’ll be saving money and saving the planet all at the same time! Here’s an estimate of the monthly savings for a solar PPA in Oregon: With a PPA, your solar company essentially becomes a second utility provider, only the solar electricity is sold to you at a lower rate than the fossil fuel electricity you’ve been buying from the electric company!
But it will save you money! The less-popular cousin of the third-party solar family is the solar lease. It’s basically like renting your panels for a set monthly payment, and getting all the energy they produce—however much it is. Don’t get spooked by that language, though. A typical solar lease comes with energy production guarantees that will make sure you’re getting what you paid for. In fact, if you’re not offered a production guarantee with a solar lease, walk away.
Here’s the best part of third-party solar:

Hey Jay, hope all is well. I was wondering about your thoughts on hook positioning in flies. In particular tube style flies. Have you experimented with hooks in the down position and further up towards the head of the fly? I have suspicions about fish eating the head of the fly. The trend towards trailing hooks seems to work ok in the sweet part of the swing where line belly helps to pull the hook into the fish but suffers on the hang down and in slacker water.
Interested in your thoughts on this—and hope you find these photos of NZ Chinook interesting. Tubes with hook near the head.

A tent Click to expand I’m thinking of doing the tent thing this summer. I’ve never been to Bend. Crux has outdoor seating with a dog area and I’ve seen people with dogs sitting outside at 10 Barrel. I can’t think of any others. Goodlife has outdoor seating. Not sure if it’s dog friendly or not I like the Marriott as well.
It’s an easy minute walk to most of the downtown pubs, plus they’ve always given us great service. In fact, last time we were there the front desk agent asked why we were in Bend, and when I told her it was a birthday trip for my GF she upgraded us to a jacuzzi suite for free. Decent rooms, and an easy walk to most of the stuff in town. Plus, you’re in Bend, how much time are you really gonna spend in a hotel room, other than just passing out at night?
If Boneyard had a cot in the tasting room I probably just would have slept there
