1. CBI moves Delhi HC over A Raja’s acquittal

  • The CBI has approached the Delhi High Court over the acquittal of former Telecom Minister A Raja and others in the 2G scam case.
  • The trial began in 2011 after a CAG report alleged irregularities in allotment of 2G spectrum licenses during Raja’s tenure.

2.Vijay Sankar named Honorary Consul General of Denmark

  • Vijay Sankar, Deputy Chairman, Sanmar Group, has been appointed Honorary Consul General for Denmark in Chennai, by Her Majesty the Queen of Denmark, with the concurrence of the Government of India.
  • His consular district covers Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Kerala, Karnataka and the Union Territory of Puducherry.

3. TDP,YSR skip Lok Sabha Speaker’s lunch

  • This comes after their no-confidence motions were not taken up for discussion in the Hosue.
  • The motion has been tabled by both the parties against BJP-led NDA at the Centre.

4.Global digital summit to begin in Kochi on March 22

  • The Kerala government is organising a two-day global digital summit from March 22 to develop a roadmap to make the state a hub for digital innovation and investment.
  • The event titled `# Future’ to be inaugurated by chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan in Kochi is expected to be attended by 2000 delegates.

    • Sushma Swaraj said that the DNA samples of relatives were sent to Baghdad for verification and samples of 38 people matched while 39th person had a 70% match.
    • The Indians had been trying to leave Mosul when they were intercepted.

    2. India most exposed to climate change among 67 nations : Study

    • HSBC bank assessed 67 nations on various parameters such as their vulnerability to the physical impact of climate change, ability to respond.
    • Pakistan was ranked among the nations least-equipped of responding to climate risks.

    3. Greece establishes its first space agency

    • Greece established the Hellenic Space Organisation in an effort to rebuild the economy.
    • The country aims to make gains in various sectors including telecommunications, defence, medical applications, agriculture among others.

    • The International Day of Happiness is celebrated worldwide every March 20
    • This day was conceptualised and founded by philanthropist, activist, statesman, and prominent United Nations special advisor Jayme Illien to inspire, mobilise, and advance the global happiness movement.

      • Nayyar who currently holds the position of head of retail experience at Sony North America will replace Kenichiro Hibi from April.
      • Sunil Nayyar joined Sony in 1995.

      2. US national debt exceeds $21 tn for the first time

    • This comes after President Donald Trump signed a debt-limit suspension that allows unlimited borrowing until March 1,2019.
    • The US’ national debt is estimated to be more than the national debt of 28 EU nations.
